National PTA Shirley Igo Advocate of the Year Award

Purpose – National PTA annually presents an award to one individual who most exemplifies the qualities that made Shirley Igo a true advocate for all children.

Shirley was a model of public service and volunteerism throughout her life. She was an impassioned and compassionate leader, dedicated to moving PTA forward and committed to ensuring that others would follow.

The award will be presented to an individual PTA member, who through their leadership and advocacy efforts, affected federal policy priorities within PTA's annual Public Policy Agenda.

Recognitions and Prizes – The award recipient will receive:

  • An all-expense paid trip to the National PTA Legislative Conference
  • Recognition at an awards ceremony on Capitol Hill, Washington, D. C.

Application Tips – The nominee's federal advocacy efforts must have taken place within the last year and documentation of these efforts must be provided. The nominee must be a current PTA member whose unit/ council/ district/ state is in good standing. Nominations may only be submitted by someone other than the nominee.
