PTA Teachers – Making A Difference Program
The PTA Teachers – Making a Difference program is designed to showcase and publicize the outstanding dedication and support of teachers for PTA.
To recognize the special contributions of teachers at your school to PTA, California State PTA will select and feature their stories in our publications and on our website.
Nominations can be made throughout the year. Every nominated teacher will receive a letter of appreciation and a certificate. One teacher's name will be drawn monthly for special recognition, a free registration to the next California State PTA Annual Convention to be held May 7-10, 2014 in Los Angeles.
In addition, thanks to our sponsor, iFocus featuring Jungle Rangers, each month's featured teacher will receive a $75 gift card for school supplies.
This Month's Featured Teacher
Nominated by John Adams Elementary PTA
Riverside Council, Twenty-Third District PTA
PTA NOMINATION STATEMENT
"Mrs. Wilcoxon is a 5th grade teacher at John Adams Elementary School. She attends PTA meetings as often as possible and volunteers to help us with programs for our students. She is the key player in making sure that we have ordered enough books for all of our students in each grade level. Each of our students will receive their very own book 3 times within the school year. Mrs. Wilcoxon and her daughter select the books using the money our PTA earns during our book fairs, help arrange the books by reading level, and set up the multi-purpose room so the students can come pick out the book they want. Along with other volunteers, we are able to label each book with "A Gift from your PTA" and put the student's name on it. We are very happy for the assistance, recommendations for new programs and her willingness to lend a hand when needed."
Last Month's Featured Teacher
Nominated by Dallas Ranch Middle School PTSA
Delta Council, Thirty-Second District PTA
PTA NOMINATION STATEMENT
"Max Bridges is epitomizes the phrase "Teachers Making a Difference". Mr. Bridges teaches math and science to 6th graders at Dallas Ranch Middle School (DRMS) in Antioch, California. He brings a spark and energy to the classroom that is genuinely infectious. His science students hang on his every word as they await the final scene in the mystery of science he lays out for them with each new lesson. Similarly, he so engages his math students that nearly every hand eagerly shoots up in anticipation of providing answers to his queries during class lessons. Outside the classroom, Max is a regular and consistent PTSA volunteer. In fact for the 2012-2013 school year, Max took on the job of PTSA Secretary while his 8th grade daughter was unit Parliamentarian. If PTSA has a Family Fun Night, a fundraiser, a student social, a Fall Fest or Spring Carnival going on, you know where to find Max - right in the middle of the action planning or lending a hand to ensure the event is a success for all students and parents alike. For the current school year, Max has stepped in as our "Teacher Liaison" where he has dedicated himself to work with our Membership VP to achieve 100% teacher membership and participation in the PTSA for the 2013-2014 school year! In addition to his dedication of time and energy to the success of our PTSA, Mr. Bridges also spends countless hours coordinating the annual week-long "Outdoor Education" Science Camp for 6th Grade DRMS students. It is not an exaggeration to say that without Max's efforts, this magnificent program that enriches the science education of so many students at DRMS likely would not exist. Max Bridges is truly a PTSA Teacher Making a Difference in the lives of the students at Dallas Ranch Middle School."
