California State PTA Goals for 2005-2007

Goal: To position the PTA, a volunteer membership organization, as the leading advocate on current and evolving issues and concerns affecting children and families.

Objectives:
  • Ensure that members receive quality resources and training.
  • Provide information and resources to help members understand and value PTA.
  • Collaborate effectively with allied, governmental, and other organizations.
  • Promote visibility of the PTA governance standards and encourage their adoption.
  • Celebrate positive efforts by recognizing best practices.

Goal: To create meaningful connections with members to speak with one voice for all children and families.

Objectives:
  • Provide timely information and be responsive to members.
  • Simplify procedures and processes to facilitate the work of PTA.
  • Provide training with a consistent message to members that will instill pride in membership.

Goal: To create opportunities for identifying and developing emerging leaders who reflect California's diverse population.

Objectives:
  • Determine what is needed and what can be done to develop emerging leaders.
  • Establish relationships with allied agencies that represent groups we want to reach.
  • Develop and distribute a training module for statewide dissemination.
  • Implement a speakers bureau.
  • Find ways to engage the younger generation.
