FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSQ: My daughter is 15 and is interested in attending the California State PTAConvention. Is there a special student rate? A: Students ages 12-18 may register at the $60 Student Registration rate. This registration entitles them to attend all convention events. Q: My 10 year old son is traveling with me. Is there a registration fee for him? A: Parents may register children under 12 at no charge at the Registration Desk. Children will be issued special badges that will allow them to accompany a parent to meetings or conferences, on a space-available basis. If a conference is at capacity, children will not be admitted. Parents are asked to be considerate of their fellow PTAmembers when bringing children to meetings. Q: Can I mail my Advance Registration form after April 12? A: NO. Registration will not be accepted after April 12. Your registration is important, and the April 12 deadline allows enough time to process your registration information as well as return time-sensitive material to all who register in advance. If you are not able to meet the Advance Registration deadline you may register on-site. Q: I registered as a full time delegate but can only stay for a day, can I transfer my registration to my friend to use for the rest of convention? A: NO. Once you have checked-in at Convention Registration, your registration is no longer transferable. If you know that you will not be able to attend for the full time, you can transfer your entire registration status to another person either through your District PTA before April 12 or on-site by following the transfer procedure listed on page 2. Q: Do I have to select for conferences in advance? A: NO, you are not required to select conferences in advance, but it is strongly recommended. You may select conferences on a space available basis at registration, but many of them may already be at capacity. There is no guarantee space will be available for all conferences at on-site registration. Choose your conferences in advance for the best selection. Q: Why do I have to to put two choices for my conferences? A: Every effort will be made to give you your first choice of conferences. There will be an opportunity to exchange tickets for another conference on a space-available basis when you pick up your registration materials on-site. However, since conference assignments are made on a first come, first served basis, space in some conferences may be limited. Q: We do not know whom our officers are yet for next year, how can we register during early registration? A: Units that register delegates as “Delegate A, B, C,” etc. can later change the names by following the transfer procedure on page 2. Select conferences that would pertain to the officers that are likely to attend. Conference choices may be changed by following the transfer procedure on page 2 or on-site on a space-available basis. Q: How do you determine who is a voting delegate versus a nonvoting registrant? A: The number of voting delegates each unit is entitled to is determined by the total memberships recorded in the California State PTA office by March 31, 2005. Refer to page 2 for specific numbers. Q: How do I find out about activities that my council and district have scheduled? A: Check with your council and district PTA presidents before you come to convention so that you can plan to attend these activities. Q: Do I need a credit card at convention? A: YES, most hotels require that you leave a credit card as deposit for incidental charges that you may incur. Q: How can I determine what time to schedule my flights? A: Tentative times for convention activities are listed in the Convention-At-A-Glance on the inside front cover. |
