With more than one million members, California State PTA is the largest volunteer organization in the state dedicated to improving the well being of all children and youth. Joining PTA supports local, state and national efforts to improve the education of children and the lives of families. There are four ways to support PTA in California. 1. Join a local PTA or PTSA If you know which PTA you wish to join, contact the PTA by leaving a note with your contact information at the school office or checking online to see if the PTA has a web page or contact e-mail. Find your local PTA » If you know which PTA district you are in, send an email to the district president at districtpresident- @capta.org (insert your district number in the blank). If you don’t know of a PTA near you, send an email to membershipchair@capta.org providing your contact information and location, or call the California State PTA office at 916-440-1985 ext. 328. Being a member of any PTA or PTSA makes you a voting member of California State PTA and national PTA. Each PTA sets its own dues, typically between $4.00 and $10.00 per member. The amount of the dues is found in the PTA's bylaws and is generally tax-deductible. PTA dues are non-refundable.
