Initial access to a local unit's OMDR site is given to the local unit president.
To access OMDR the first time, the local unit president needs the National PTA identification number for the local PTA unit and his/her individual member identification number. These numbers can be provided to units by either their PTA district or their PTA council. (The unit can also obtain access information from National PTA).
Note: The PTA district is responsible for ensuring that the contact information for local unit presidents is entered into OMDR, thus generating their member ID numbers. Inform your PTA district of any changes in leadership.
- Go to https://www.pta.org/omdr.
- Click "First Visit" in order to create your username and password.
- Enter your first name, last name, member ID, and local unit ID in the appropriate boxes (be sure member and unit ID numbers are eight digits by including the leading zeros). Choose your position (use "Local Unit President") from the drop-down menu. Enter your desired username. Click "submit".
- Enter your desired password, and retype this password in the appropriate boxes. Enter your e-mail address, choose a secret question from the drop-down list, and answer the secret question in the appropriate boxes (this information is used to recover the password, if necessary). Click "submit".
- You will receive a confirmation screen indicating that your OMDR account was successfully added.
- You can click from this screen to go to "Local Unit Sign-In" or "Return to OMDR Menu".
- You can now sign on to OMDR using the username and password you just created by going to www.pta.org/omdr and signing in.
Note: As local unit president, it is possible that you will not be the primary person within your unit in charge of using OMDR. In many cases, the membership chair, treasurer, or another board member is responsible for keeping track of membership and will need to use OMDR.
In order for others to access the system:
- Click "Officer Entry Screen".
- Enter local unit officer's contact information being sure to enter all fields indicated as required. (Included in the required information is the officer's position and term beginning and end date.) Click "continue".
Note: The only officers that can access OMDR are those found on the pull-down menu under "First Visit". They are: Local Unit President, Local Unit Secretary, Local Unit Treasurer, Membership Chair, Membership VP and Vice President. Be sure to select one of those positions. Do not select Co-president, as that position is not recognized in California.
- You will then see a screen on which you can review the information entered. If all information is correct click "Add This Record." (If any changes need to be made click "Edit This Record" which will take you back to previous screen.)
- Next you will receive a screen confirming that the record was successfully added.
Note: This confirmation screen lists the National PTA ID number for the unit and the
member ID for the officer entered. These numbers should be provided to any officer who will need OMDR access for the "First Visit" process noted above.
