PTA ARTS BILL UPDATE, SB 469We anticipate that the PTA co-sponsored arts bill SB 469 (Scott) Instructional Materials will be sent to the Governor for signature shortly. The bill was passed by Assembly Appropriations on August 20 by a vote of 22 to 1 and has gone to the floor of the Assembly for approval. Governor Gray Davis SB 469 authorizes a school district to use instructional materials funding to purchase adopted instructional materials for the visual and performing arts, foreign language, and health or any other curricular area if it certifies that it has provided each pupil with a standards-aligned textbook or basic instructional materials in reading/language arts, mathematics, history/social science, and science.
