SMARTS is California State PTA’s program to encourage arts education. The California State PTA wants to create advocates for quality arts education at every school in California. 1) Advocacy for the Arts

Arts Education Leadership Conference May 1 and 2 in Sacramento Early bird discount has been extended through April 8 only!
PTA members are invited to the California Alliance for Arts Education Arts Education Leadership: Leveraging the Vision conference immediately following the California State PTA Convention in Sacramento. A limited number of scholarships are available on a first come first serve basis.

2) Interactive Websites for Parents, Teachers, and Students

Asia Games: The Art of the Contest
Drawing on major collections of Asian art in the United States, Europe, and Japan, Asian Games has almost two hundred objects, including spectacular examples of game sets dating from the twelfth to nineteenth centuries. It highlights the importance of Asia as a source of many games—chess, backgammon, Parcheesi, Ludo, Snakes and Ladders, and playing cards.

Who Am I? Self Portrait in Art
Who am I? provides art and writing activities for middle school students. Students look at self-portraits in the National Gallery of Art’s collection by Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Judith Leyster, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and Andy Warhol.

The National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts will award grants of up to $15,000 to support exemplary Community Schools of Arts and public school partnerships.
